Education changes everything
Why is access to education important for underprivileged children?
At August Berg, we believe that our success as a company is intertwined with our responsibility to give back to society. That's why we have made it our mission to create a positive impact through education with every single watch sold.
To make this actionable, we partnered with Human Practice Foundation, a Danish non profit organization. This Foundation builds and renovates government schools in parts of the world where it’s needed the most.

Together with HPF we are providing education for every watch sold. This is our immediate action And for every 20 000 watches sold, we are building a school.
We are proud to announce that we’re almost finished building the 1st school in Kenya, Africa.
Why building a school?
Schools make up the most fund a mental part of our communities. We believe that appropriate school infrastructure is a requirement for children to receive the quality education they deserve.
Basic school infrastructure includes safe class rooms with lots of light, proper toilets, and sanitation solutions. The focus in Kenya is to install a water harvesting system within the school.
The economic growth that Kenya has experienced in recent years has not benefited a large part of the population, and the inequality is immense.
The rural areas are still experiencing serious poverty, and 36% of the population lives in absolute poverty As a result, many children in rural areas are missing out on quality education and have little hope of getting jobs in the future.
Human Practice Foundation is working with strong local partners Their local knowledge combined with HPF expertise in the educational sector and implementing projects forge a comprehensive platform for creating impactful and sustainable change in the local areas.
Christine is a 17-year-old student in Primary School in Kenya. She is born and raised in a Maasai community, where boys are taught how to keep cattle and many young girls are exposed to child marriages and female genital mutilation.
She comes from a typical Maasai household where her father has 3 wives and a total of 27 kids. She enjoys going to school and has always been interested in learning new things – which is why she is determined to finish both primary, secondary, and hopefully university. Her dream is to become a doctor so she can give back to society.
With the new school infrastructure and Christine’s own dedication, her family has become very supportive of her education.
‘I used to walk long distances to collect water with my siblings. It was not always safe because there are wild animals in the area. HPF supported our school with a borehole, so now I don’t need to collect water anymore, as my family collects water from the school. The new school infrastructure and borehole have helped my family a lot, and I can now focus on my education.
