WHY SUPPORT EDUCATION?

Schools shape children, Children shape the world.

The video features Akadeli Primary School, which is the first school we are building.

244 million children won't start the new school year ¹

That’s nearly 1 in 30 people worldwide or the same size as the population of the United States.

Education is vital for children in rural areas, as it offers them better opportunities for the future and improved health. However, many children face challenges in accessing education due to the distance they have to walk to get to school. Ensuring access to education in rural areas can break this cycle, leading to better educational outcomes and increased opportunities for both children and their families.

Education changes everything

Why is access to education important for underprivileged children?

Breaks the circle of Poverty

With education, children can acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to secure higher-paying jobs and lift them selves and their families out of poverty

Empowers children

Education empowers children to take control of their lives and make informed decisions about their future. It also helps them to become active participants insociety, contributing to their communities and working towards positive social change(s)

Improves social mobility

Education can improve social mobility, allowing children to move up the socio economic ladder and increase their opportunities for a better future

Fosters a more equitable society

Access to education can contribute to a more equitable society. When children from all backgrounds have the opportunity to learnand grow, it helps to breakdown social barriers and promotes greater social cohesion

How do we tackle the education crisis?

Education is the right of every child and is a game-changer. A good education is the foundation for a child's success later in life and a common factor in ending cycles of poverty. - UNICEF²

Key metrics about the Academics Kenya program (2018-2022):

  • Population: 55M
  • Below poverty line: 17%
  • 39% better grades in the Secondary level
  • 37% decrease in student absence
  • 29% decrease in student drop-out

The economic growth that Kenya has experienced in recent years has not benefited a large part of the population, and the inequality is immense.

The rural areas are still experiencing serious poverty, and 36% of the population lives in absolute poverty. As a result, many children in rural areas are missing out on quality education and have little hope of getting jobs in the future.

Human Practice Foundation is working with strong local partners. Their local knowledge combined with HPF expertise in the educational sector and implementing projects forge a comprehensive platform for creating impactful and sustainable change in the local areas. ⁴
