In a time where everyone desires to be as efficient as they can, podcasts have started to shine and 40 years after the world’s ever audiocast, the podcasts we have today are super advanced and immersive. No longer do you need to sit down in a specific place and focus on a book or an article, you can now listen to virtually anything, at any time and anywhere, even while you are at work or while you are on your morning run.
If you have yet to jump unto the bandwagon or if you are looking for new titles to listen to, here are five podcasts that we at team August Berg, recommend listening:
Thrive Global Podcast
Thrive Global Podcast is hosted by Arianna Huffington, who is a Greek-American author, syndicated columnist and businesswoman. Having a staggering 15 books under her belt, Arianna is a veteran self-help author. In her podcasts, she sits down with a variety of guest speakers including celebrities, athletes and influencers and talks about finding the balance in life.
Our recommended listen is the 20th Episode of this podcast titled ‘Reshma Saujani’, where Arianna interviews the founder and CEO of Girls Who Code, Reshma Saujani. In this episode, the two talk about female empowerment, motherhood, and burnouts as well as tackling them. With such powerful and relatable topics, this podcast is a good listen for many!
The Tim Ferriss Show
Tim Ferriss is a bestselling author of “The 4-Hour Workweek”, which has been translated into 40 over languages. In his show, he deconstructs world-class performers from eclectic areas including investing, chess, pro sports, etc. and digs deep into the tools, tactics and tricks that these top dogs use so that his listeners may learn from them.
Our hot favourite from this podcast is #453: The Random Show - Zen, Investing, Mike Tyson, Artificial Intelligence, and the world’s best… In this episode, Tim waxes poetic over wildlife friends and foes, the folly of facing off against Mike Tyson (even at his older age right now), slow donkeys, universal basic income, breaking the pandemic pyjama routine, pandemic investing and so much more. In all, this was a really interesting 120 minutes of very informational talking!
Startup
Startup is a business documentary podcast by Gimlet Media by Alex Blumberg and wife Lisa Chow. While the first two seasons focused on the starting of businesses, the following seasons focused on different aspects of running a business, including tips on pitching your business to investors and getting a HR facelift.
Our hot favourite from this podcast is ‘Running a family and a business’, where the host speaks to the founder of Cisse Cocoa (Diana Lovett) and tackles something that many people struggle with, managing businesses and parenthood.
Optimal Daily Living
For those of you who prefer shorter podcasts on personal growth, Optimal Living Daily is a great podcast to listen to. Dubbed a blogcast, every episode is a ten minute or less reading by Justin Malik about different genres of personal development, including topics like motivation and focus, as well as tips on minimalist-living.
If you have a short 20-minute break at work, you can rest and reset your mindset with our favourite episode from this podcast called ‘Four antidotes to procrastination by Leo Babauta’, which aids us to clear our minds and give us space to think about what really matters in life.
The 10 Minute Entrepreneur
Hosted by Sean Castrina, who has started over 15 successful companies in just over 20 years, this podcast shares quick, easily digestible tips (of about ten minutes) on how to better equip yourself for success. What we love about this podcast is how Castrina powerfully and eloquently delivers practical and tactical advice that anyone can follow, regardless of the industry they are interested in.
An informative and interesting listen is ‘Five baskets you need to put money into’, where Castrina speaks of five pillars (marketing, growth opportunities, customer service, legal issues and market downturns) where business owners must pay attention to if they wish to grow out of the ‘small gradual business’ zone.
