Work-life balance is what most of us struggle with at some point in our working careers. It becomes more challenging if you are a sole trader, where the fine line between your working and personal life starts to blur out. Maintaining a work-life balance is crucial to prevent stress and mental exhaustion and complete our day-to-day tasks efficiently without much backlog.
For those who struggle with this, heads up! We have listed down tips and tricks that will not only help you fly through your task effectively but will also allow you to knock off on time.
- Prioritize your Time
There may be days when it seems you have endless tasks which can be suffocating. As such, you should prioritize these tasks in four categories, namely “Urgent and important”, “Important but not urgent”, “Urgent but not important”, and “Neither urgent nor important”. That way, it helps you focus on tasks that are pressing.
- Understand your Working Style
Are you a morning person? Or do you function better in the afternoon? If that is the case, you should plan your day accordingly. Assign demanding tasks at the time of the day when you work the best and leave the simple ones at the time where you feel sluggish.
- Create a Comfortable Working Environment
Having a comfortable workplace plays a huge role in achieving work-life balance as it allows you to work comfortably and efficiently. Chances are, you spend too much time staring at screens and sitting that can lead to a few health concerns. Go on and invest in equipment that benefits you, such as a comfortable chair, an ergonomic keyboard, and a laptop stand. Make your workspace work for you.
- Be Realistic
As the day comes to an end, try to reflect on your achievement. Go through with yourself what you have accomplished, what went well, what did not go as planned, and how to fix some issues better. All these will re-frame and prepare you for the next working day.
- Exercise Regularly
After a long day at work, you might feel drained and wish to hop onto your bed immediately. But do you know exercising helps keep the mind fresh, which means you will be able to complete your tasks better and quicker? No, you do not have to run a marathon or do intense HIIT each day. A jog or brisk walking at least three times per week will do the trick!
